Weekend Recap 5/22 - 5/24

The 2 day race on Memorial Day weekend was the 1st race for the pro bike class this year with the best field of bikes we have had in years. Saturday`s winner was veteran bike racer Larry Christianson over no box racer Mark Bowser from Moline Il. who red lighted by backing out of the staging beams. Sunday featured an all Klemme final as Steve Klemme defeated NHRA national bike champion Tom Klemme in a very close race.

Jr Dragster class was dominated this weekend by Robbie Massey as he not only won the class both days but also the Sugar Grove Custom Cars Allstar run off both days. Runner up on Sat. was Dalton Dorsett , Sunday`s runner up was Morgan Walsh from Fairfax Ia. Jr consi winner on Sat. was Ben Haugen from Minnesota over Morgan Walsh, Sunday`s winner was Chelsea Bacon over Alix Risse from Waterloo.

Mackenzie Dorsett also had an awesome weekend defeating Jerry De Moss in Sportsman on Sat., defeated Tony Mahaffey on Sat. in Pure Street, and Robert Blackford on Sunday in Pure Street.

Sunday`s Sportsman winner was defending points champion Mike Wymore over Bobby Hayden from Corydon Ia.

Door cars dominated the Super Pro class as Mark Bacon won over Bruce Main in a very close double breakout race, and on Sunday Jerry Schartner defeated Troy Spaulding in another double breakout race.

Dennis Breeding was the Pro et winner on Sunday defeating Les Bronson, Saturday`s winner was Stan Livingston defeating Bill Gissible with both racers running on their dial ins and had almost identical reaction times.

This Saturday will feature several bracket classes, 2 heads up car classes, 3 heads up bike classes, with an early start time as we will have an autocross Sat. evening run by the Central Iowa Mustang Club. Check out the details on this week at ERP link.
