WYATT PREPARES FOR BIG CHALLENGE
AT NIGHT OF FIRE
Jack Wyatt is nothing if he’s not persistent. After finishing second the last two season in IHRA’s Nitro Funny Car national points standings the Corydon, Iowa resident entered the 2008 season without a firm major sponsor in place and a plan to approach the season on a race-by-race basis. If he had enough money in place he would head to the next event on the IHRA schedule. If not he would park the car until he found enough sponsorship to get to the next race.
Wyatt went to the IHRA President’s Cup Nationals needing a strong showing to immediately continue his quest for the 2008 IHRA world championship. After rain washed the final Saturday qualifying session away with Wyatt not yet in the field, he was left to ponder his next move…a move that would not include the IHRA Rocky Mountain Nationals in Edmonton.“When I didn’t make the show I knew I would have to park it for awhile,” Wyatt said. “Actually I wouldn’t have had enough money to make it to Edmonton if I had won the event so I had other arrangements in place.”
Those other arrangements will be a big test. Wyatt will head to Eddyville Raceway Park for the Musco Lighting Night of Fire and to match race against current NHRA Top Fuel Funny Car points leader Tim Wilkerson, Saturday July 5. “We’re looking forward to going up against Tim,” Wyatt said. “He’s a great racer and a great guy. But Eddyville is my home track so I’m not going there to lose. I want to put on a great show for the fans and take home the win.”
In addition to the Nitro Funny Car match race, the Musco Night of Fire will also feature Nitro Nostalgia Top Fuel Dragsters, radical Nitro Altereds, Jets, Wheelstander, special match races and more. In addition a grand Fireworks display will take place at the conclusion of the event. "Being that the Night of Fire is real close to the actual holiday, we are putting on a special fireworks show" said Gerald Kramer. The Musco Night of Fire feature show begins at 6 PM.
