NIGHT OF FIRE ROCKS ERP
WILKERSON SETS LOW E.T.
The Musco Lighting Night of Fire had all the ingredients that most people are looking for at a drag race event. The weather was perfect, the pits and grandstands were full and the feature show rocked the house.
It all came together on Saturday evening July 5, at Eddyville Raceway Park. Special exhibition cars, nitro dragsters and altereds, Jets and of course the AA/Funny Car match race had people on the edge of their seats.
NHRA Funny Car points leader Tim Wilkerson debuted a brand new chassis and didn't take the usual learning curve to make things come together. On his second pass, he made a 3.30 second run to set low E.T. of the event. "I gave it throttle and had to pull it back once or twice to keep from smoking the tires" said Wilkerson. "We under-estimated the track on the first pass and hit it pretty close on the second one" he continued. Wilkerson will take his NHRA Funny Car points lead into Denver this coming weekend.
The fans also enjoyed a grand fireworks display at the conclusion of the feature show.
